The island of Kyushu has a warmer and more tropical climate than other areas of Japan. The island was an epicenter of Japanese civilization and offers not only many historic and interesting treasures to explore it also has a natural beauty to view in awe.

Kyushu has something for everyone that travels here. Whether you want to visit a buzzing urban area our lie on the beach it is a perfect destination that offers a plethora of things to do no matter what our ideal vacation destination may be. You will find it here. The island had many towns or areas that are known as Prefecture’s. Fukuoka is the largest city on the island of Kyushu and is the capital of the Fukuoka Prefecture.  This is a more modern city and many of the buildings are new. There are still many cultural aspects to explore and see here though.  There is the Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, the Komyozenji Temple, and the Sumiyoshi Shrine.

To experience a tropical climate travel to Kagoshima in the Kagoshima Prefecture. It is located on the southwestern tip of the island, and has been referred to as the Naples of Japan.  Kagoshima sits on a bay and is loomed over by the massive volcano Sakurajima. While here you can explore the ruins of the Kagoshima Castle. Or if you would like experience a little Zen as you stroll through the Senganen Japanese Garden.

Hakata is the place to visit if you want to experience more of the hustle and bustle of a city.  This city is located on a canal. It’s a great place to shop with many boutiques and cafes to grab a quick respite.  They have a shopping mall called Hawk’s Town with many international stores and a Hard Rock Café. Of course if you are traveling to the island you must experience Hello Kitty Land, also called Harmonyland.  This outdoor theme park is located in the Oita Prefecture.  It is a wonderful mix of state of the art technology in a beautifully natural setting.  You can meet all your favorite characters of Sanrio, like Hello Kitty, Chococat, and many others.  The purpose of the theme park is to teach visitors about the environment and cultural heritage as well as the joy of friendship and caring for others.
