Close to 1 million people hit this holiday market each year in search of the perfect holiday gifts. In operation since 1994, this market may not be old, but it has quickly become a tradition to New Yorkers. Handmade gives, great artisinal food and toys are just the beginning of what makes this market one you won’t want to miss.
Christkindlmarkt – Bethlehem PA
If you are looking for something similar to what you would find in the most authentic markets in Europe, look no further than Christkindlmarkt. Considered one of the most “authentic” here in the US, this market is one you can’t miss. A city named after the city where the first Christmas took place, Bethlehem Pennsylvania was named on Christmas Eve in 1741. This market, as steeped in tradition as the city itself, features artisans, glassblowers, food and even a Santa. Over 125 vendors each week over a period of 5 weeks offer up their wares to almost a million people each year.
Georgetown Christmas Market – Georgetown CO
For 55 years, many have made their way to historic Georgetown to enjoy this festive winter event. Each year in the month of December, historic Georgetown comes to life with a scene for days long past. Here visitors step back in time and enjoy a traditional outdoor European Market, roasted chestnuts, horse drawn wagon rides and more all while doing some great holiday shopping.
