Traveling is supposed to be a grand experience. Leaving behind your day-to-day life and heading out to explore the unknown or lounge on a beach for a few days away always sounds like a great idea. However, that idea does not always translate well to reality. Poor planning and unexpected blips can quickly turn a dream trip into a nightmare. Here are a few issues we have encountered on our travels.
1. Packing
Congratulations, you have decided that you are finally going to take that dream trip through Europe that you have dreamed about since you were a child! Good for you. Now you have to figure out what to pack for the month you will be there exploring and discovering. Will you need a formal outfit, in case you decide to splurge on a lavish meal? What about the perfect pair of shoes to go with that outfit? There are so many questions that can go into packing the perfect bag for your upcoming trip that you can make yourself crazy trying to figure it out. It is always best to simplify so that you are not dragging a ton of luggage with you on your adventure.
2. Airport Food
It seems like most of the food at the airport is overpriced, lacks in flavor, and is high in fat and calories. You get on the plane feeling disappointed, unsatisfied with what you just ate and lighter in the pocketbook.
3. Unpredictable Weather
You saved all your money, took off the vacation days you have been hoarding and finally booked a trip to Cancun. Lucky you, you arrive in town the day before the latest hurricane decides to make a grand entrance. The next seven days consist of you and your traveling companions sitting inside of your hotel room, praying that you will make it back home in one piece.
4. Noisy Accommodations
You arrive at what is supposed to be your dream hotel, only to find out that the floors above and below you are being renovated and the crew starts at 7:00am every day of your trip.
5. The Dreaded Norovirus
In recent years there have been many stories in the news about cruise ships and noroviruses. It seems like it has become an all too frequent issue for many travelers. The truth of the matter is that this dreaded occurrence can happen anywhere large numbers of people congregate. With that in mind, it is always a good idea to buy a bottle of bleach upon arrival at your destination to give all surfaces a thorough cleaning of your own.
